Knockback Combat - Bullets That Move, Not Kill

The official combat rule of I Don't Do Overtime: bullets don't hurt coworkers directly - knockback slams them into obstacles. How to fight with physics.

The one rule that changes everything: bullets don’t hurt — they shove. “Bullets don’t hurt coworkers directly—use knockback to slam them into obstacles!” That is the entire combat thesis, official and upfront. (Source: Steam store page)

What Is Confirmed?

  • Direct bullet damage: zero against coworkers.
  • Knockback: the real weapon — slam targets into obstacles.
  • The combat serves the premise: get home without overtime. (all: official page)

Obstacle types, slam thresholds and enemy health are in-game content we will not invent.

Aiming Turns Inside Out (community analysis)

Normal FPS aiming points at the target; knockback aiming points at where the target should be sent. The skill is geometry: the shot line, the obstacle, and the space between. Beginner habit — before shooting anyone, locate the nearest wall, pit, or hazard; a coworker not standing near anything breakable is, for now, unshootable. (rule official; geometry doctrine community)

Habits (community estimates)

  • Herd toward hazards. Shots that don’t slam still move — chain small knockbacks toward the big obstacle before the finishing shove.
  • Save the environment. A cleared office is a disarmed one; the clutter you splattered colleagues on in room one is gone in room three.
  • Cornering beats dueling. In hallways, the walls do the work — fight where geometry is your teammate.

FAQ

What counts as an obstacle? Not documented — walls, machinery and cosmic-office hazards are plausible; verify in-game. (community note)
